Setting up my own yoga and wellbeing business has not been without its challenges. I’ve wondered many times if I’ve made the right decision to leave a stable job with a stable paycheck and 9-5 hours with weekends off. Truth be told, I’m still not sure, but I do know that when I’m really in the flow, I absolutely love it and want to keep doing more…as long as there is more work to be had.
One of my biggest challenges in getting myself out there as a yoga teacher has been in marketing myself and getting my message out. It’s not ever been something I’ve ever done before, I’m not really a social media junkie, and truthfully, I find using a range of social media tedious and frustrating. Why does there have to be so many…Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Snapchat and then YouTube videos as well. Can’t we just have one? It would save so much time!
So, in an effort to learn how to use social media more effectively and get myself out there, I...
It’s that time of the year again. Time to eat, drink, and be merry! Hold onto your skinny jeans…I mean really hold on…party season has arrived.
Every year there are all sorts of features on how to be healthy and keep the weight off during the holidays. Advice such as stick only to white spirits or drink a glass of water in between drinks, or only indulge in just a few of your favourite treats. This is real…I even read one article where they advised you to go and cut down your own Christmas tree to burn some extra calories. While for some of you out in the country this might actually be a thing, and as nice as it sounds, I’m pretty sure many of us urban types aren’t going to be rushing out with our axe in tow.
Also, I don’t know about you, but once I’ve had a couple of drinks, any good intentions I had set myself for the evening quickly disappear. With this in mind, I've compiled some tips to help get you through the holiday season.
7 healthy tips to get you through the holiday s...
Have you ever wanted to go on a Yoga Retreat but didn’t have the time to take a full week off work? Or would you like a healthy holiday that is easy, convenient, and close to home? Well, The House of Yoga (www.thehouseofyoga.co.uk), Putney’s most popular yoga studio, is bringing you a weekend yoga retreat in the lap of luxury, for only a two hour train journey from London.
The retreat is held at That Amazing Place (www.thatamazingplace.co.uk), a place so, dare I say ah-mazing, the owners weren’t shy to let everyone else know it. That Amazing Place is a gorgeous converted monastery set on eight acres of stunning grounds and gardens, including a lake and a secret garden. Spa treatments are also available and if you’re not relaxed enough from all the yoga, then their sauna and steam room will surely help ease any remaining tension away.
The retreat will be led by The House of Yoga’s two most senior teachers, as well as myself, and Cra...
Several weeks ago I decided to try out Hello Fresh, a food delivery service that sends you all the ingredients for weekly dinners along with the recipe cards to make the meals, so that you can make fresh, “healthy” dinners with ease and convenience.
The Nuts and Bolts:
With Hello Fresh a weekly order is placed for your meals for the week. You can order from either three meals for two people or five meals for two people, or you can also order family boxes. Options include classic boxes which are meat and veg, or all vegetarian, and classic boxes cost about £42 per week, if you’re ordering for three meals, while veggie only boxes are a little bit less.
Essentially, Hello Fresh advertises that they use fresh ingredients, often from local businesses and organic where possible. You are expected to have a few basics on hand such as salt, pepper, butter, milk, but they pretty much send you everything else in exact quantities, so no measuring out of ingredients is required. A...

Tal’s Top 7 Quick and Easy Health and Energy Tips
Start the day out with warm lemon water, herbal tea or just a glass of water
With the days getting slightly longer (yes!), it feels like Spring is nearly on our doorstep. Traditionally, the time of the year for growth, renewal, spring cleaning, and detoxing, it's a time when many people aim to eliminate bad habits (for both the health and home) to make way for the summer months ahead.
Since detoxing and Spring go hand in hand, I thought I’d attempt to clarify some of the confusion surrounding this hyped up and controversial topic within the nutrition and wellbeing circles.
The many sides of the detox coin...
As many of us are aware, there are a million different detoxes to choose from. From juice fasts, to colon and liver cleanses, detox teas and a wealth of other detox products, the choice is seemingly endless. Alternatively, there is also the more sensible approach of refining your diet to eliminate various foods (e.g. shunning morning croissants and cappuccinos in favour of healthier choices). On the other side of the spectrum, there are plenty o...
As a Nutritionist and Health Coach, this is something I continuously remind my clients of, and as a human being, this is something that I have to always remind myself of!
Avoid setting unrealistic expectations
Oftentimes when we set ourselves health and fitness goals, they sound realistic and achievable, especially when we’re sitting in front of the TV on a Sunday night chowing down on pizza (* insert comfort food of choice*), but reality can prove otherwise. I'm sure that many of you have been in the situation where even though you're full, you keep eating because this week you're going to do three yoga sessions, three gym sessions, and you promise yourself you'll avoid sugar, carbs, booze, etc. Does this sound familiar? Please tell me I’m not the only one!
If like me, you've found yourself waking up full of determination, enjoying lemon water and green smoothies, but slipping during the week, you're not alone. Often by Wednesday, you’ve done a gym or yoga sessio...
